Perfect TV for me – Janet K. – baltimore, md
This 26″ Haier tv/dvd combo was perfect for me. It has beautiful picture quality, swivels in any direction, sleep timer and plays DVD’s flawlessly. I was a little leery about getting my first time digital/LCD tv, but don’t have any reservations about this model. I’ve had this tv for almost a year now and the only drawback I’ve found is that when playing DVD’s, I often have to turn the volume up to maximum, otherwise, during normal tv watching, I just use medium to low volume settings.

The TV arrived and was easy to set up with my TIVO. Within two days the on/off switch stoped working. The remote nor the botton on the TV would work. I called the customer service for Haier and was told that it was a holiday (Presidents Day) and they would call me back the next day to let me know when someone would pick the TV up. No one called for 2 days so I called again. They said they were having trouble finding a dealer near me and would call me back. After three more days I plugged the TV back in just to see if I could get it to come on. Sure enough it did. I guess it had to reset itself. I still have not heard a word from Haier. I hope it continues to work as apparently Haier has no customer service.

Haier HLC26B 26″ TV/DVD Combo – Donna Alleyne-Chin – SF Bay Area
The Haier brand is new to me but now a favorite. My first Haier TV was a 7inch for the kitchen-also 4 stars. The Haier 26″ with DVD is a good bet for a bedroom. I especially like the swivel base not found on other brands. The remote is friendly and the controls on the TV are in easy reach on the side of the TV. The sound is good and changing channels is almost instant. My husband compared the picture quality to a Sharp TV of the same size and thought the Sharp was “sharper”. But the picture is very good for a small bedroom and the other features convinced me to keep the Haier.

Excellent Bedroom TV – Smart Shopper – Billerica, MA
Puchased this in December 07 to replace a 20″ Panasonic tube TV (which still works great). I also purchased a Panasonic VCR/DVD Recorder. The two work excellent together through something called EZSYNC. It basically combines the two units into one logical unit, with one remote control. The quality is excellent, especially with non HD channels. It appears to “upvert” the standard analog pictures to at least 480P (DVD quality). It’s hard at this point comment on one component (the TV), but I will say the tuner is excellent, as well as the picture and sound. I could not ask for anything better except for 1080i, but for this size, it would be difficult to notice the difference, and even then, there would be no difference unless you were watching BlueRay.

I bought this set in Oct 2007..We had been living with a 19″ color set in the living room for many years, and it was time!
I had to choose a set that would fit in our small living room, yet give
good quality color and sound.
It is now June 2008, and this set is wonderful! If you have a living room that is 12×17 or smaller, this is great! . The controls are good, however, if you use playstation, or need to connect video, not too convenient..On the side… I love Panasonic..The sound is great, the picture is great.I am still very happy with this set. I can now see this set without my glasses! (well except for letters)
Highly recommended for a great view and sound! Sound is very very important to me…I have extremely sensitive hearing. Panasonic is the best in this category.

New to HDTVs – E. Kanner –
I’m new to this HDTV thing, so I was expecting a super crisp, clear image. I’m using a DVD player which is connected using either s-video or component. It seems to me the image could be crisper. Not sure if this is a failure of the TV or the DVD.
Also, I don’t enjoy watching movies that are stretched out. We change the aspect ratio each time we watch a movie to see what works best. We may need an HDTV DVD player… not sure if that will allow us to use the full resolution it’s capable of.

This tv with the built in dvd player has a great picture. The only thing is the controls located on the tv are on the top and aren’t easy to see which would only be a problem if it’s wall mounted. Of course the remote solves that problem so be sure not to lose it!

LONG DELAYS and REMOTE SUX – Michael Moon – Fairfax, VA
LONG DELAYS BETW/ CHANNELS:
- 2-SECOND DELAY when pressing channel up/down.
- 4-SECOND DELAY when entering the channel#. Not sure if this is b/c the remote doesn’t have an enter button.

REMOTE SUX:
- lacks ENTER button
- lacks a LAST CHANNEL/RETURN button
- sellers should start posting a pic of the remote also!

I thought I could live with the DELAYS, but it was intolerable after a while. I ended up buying a refurb’d Vizio for my room and moved this one down to the kitchen, which was ok since I mounted it to the wall and can watch DVD’s there now without any clutter of adding a dvd player.

Good Set For The Price – Zman – Lafayette, Ca United States
I purchased this set through Costco online for 199.00, but the offer seems to have now expired. It is a great television for the price. High Def and standard def are both great. Wish I had bought two of them for the price. I am not an expert on high definition televisions so can’t comment on technical comparisons. All I know is I haven’t seen a 26″ HD television cheaper anywhere. Great tv for a kitchen or bedroom.

There is a hum in the background of the audio. Not noticable when a signal is being transmitted but really noticeable between signals. Also, I believe this TV was used not new as reported. The outside of the box was worn and tattered. On the inside of the box, the styrofoam was broken up that usually occurs during unpacking the first time.

Very good value. If you hear a faint buzzing noise when you first purchase this do not worry. The noise is quickly and easily fixed by changing a setting. I googled and found many people complaining about it and then found a troubleshooting tip and it fixed it. I believe it is just the sound of a light or something else in the tv and when you change the setting it cannot be heard.

I bought this TV on June 24, 2008. It stopped working on July 3,2009. The screen panel is dead.

Durable but not impressive – owned since originally came out – javajunki –
When this model came out a few years ago we purchased it mainly because it was on sale and we had a gift certificate. It was our first LCD Tv and was “okay” however, from the first the picture didn’t seem as good as the old big box television it was replacing. However, this is a solid, heavy set (compared to newer models) and has worked flawlessly since day one. No, the picture isn’t top quality and the sound won’t knock you off your feet but it’s an inexpensive, well built model that will perform flawlessly for years to come. Just understand what you are purchasing.
