Distorted picture, tiny sound – Barry Mckenzie –
Just purchased a VIZIO 26″ LCD HDTV and not so easy to get started. Picture widths stretches out the faces or compresses what’s on screen. The sound is tiny. Have played with all the settings for two days and had to change a lot of the factory settings. With the distorted picture it is to small for my living room. Not one reviewer has mentioned any of these problems.

Nice entry level HDTV – Larry L. Sanmiguel – San Antonio
I purchased one of these from a local walmart to replace my fading SDTV(CRT). i was a bit apprehensive at such a quantum leap(going from a tube TV straight into a LCD HDTV). The tv has great picture, good simulated surround from the speakers; and is pretty user friendly. (though the remote I got with it doesn’t match what the actual TV can do, as my remote has no “OK” button, but some of the features require the use of an OK button.)

Another drawback to this TV is it’s lack of outputs, for my PS3 I had to leave the A/V connectors hooked up to my surround sound and then hooked up HDMI to the TV and then split the signal VIA the ps3’s options. This was very annoying as I wanted the sound to come from both the TV and the surround system; instead of just one or the other.

Other than that, I’m very happy with the TV.

very nice – Brandon Hilbrands –
I purchased this tv for my bedroom about 2 months ago and it works great. I have my computer pluged into it and i have my xbox playing hd threw it. In my house every room we have a hd vizio in it just a gret quality tv for a great price. But dont buy it thinking it has pip( picture in picture) like i did. That got me very mad, evedently this tv doesnt have all the great feateres the bigger vizios have, like the one in my front room. Still great tv great price.

Average TV only worked for 3 hours. – Katie Howell – Conway, SC
This TV has a very dark screen initially, but there are ways to personalize it. The remote buttons are very small, and the menu is too small to easily read, even at 8 feet. The surround sound echoes, so you may opt for standard volume. The picture is average on digital channels, but didn’t have a chance to check out HD channels, because it stopped working before I had a chance.

After 3 hours of viewing, the tv sporadically initiliazed, which stopped all audio and video. After about 10 times of that, the tv said rescan channels, so I lost all personalization. I tried only once more, but got the same result. There is no support for this TV, unless you buy it on-line.

I will not recommend this TV, no matter the price.

Great product!!!!!!!!! – Eduardo Davidovich – San Jose, Costa Rica

I used it on analog signal only.
GREAT VALUE FOR THE PRODUCT QUALITY (I bought it for 299 USD$)

Move up to HD

With the Blue Ray technology winning the battle, as the preferred supplier of HD DVD and now we can go into a stable area of technology, consider for a while 'and move all our HD viewing experience on the line. HD TV for us means a better image with incredible detail and vibrant colors very accurately. There are always new things to get used to, such as understanding, 1080i and 1080p, the difference between 1080th has five times as many pixels as standard definition TV. This is 1080pBut the best picture you can get for now – the detail of the image is updated twice as fast as a 1080i.

HDTV 1080p creates the best picture and smooth, flicker-free images. This is definitely one of the elements for the purchase of an HDTV, especially if you are looking likely to go get a TV larger than 40 inches. Here are a few things to watch if you think about what to buy for HDTV systems.

(1) Make sure the system is HD-ready look for the "HD Ready", the icon, it shouldthe product is somewhere in doubt, always ask. The HD-Ready symbol means that all the HD equipment immediately to work with this. What makes me better than me to understand that something is not communicating without the additional element and hatred.

(2) If the standard is 1080p as I said before, is the best standard and extra gratifying to make sure you send your equipment with the best quality at the moment, since this work ismake the device more in terms of investment.

(3) Check the links on the product with care, you should look into an uncompressed HDMI input jack. The more points the better HDMI, but you should be looking for at least two out of HDTV and component input.

(4) You must choose between LCD and plasma televisions to choose from is the general rule is that LCDs are cheaper than plasma screens, plasma screens have a moreQuality for people with a clearer vision.

Go (5) Finally, and I see a lot of time spent looking in the shops, buy what you want in particular the view that this must be a major source of entertainment for many years in order to consider the merits and one of the best photos. A lot of questions and make sure that there is an order to their standards, that are created.

(6) This is the important function of trying to examine how this aspect that was used in its state of maximum, areAll devices can be connected to your HDTV and will be fulfilled in the position, with all input devices. These include the Sling-box technology, game devices, hard disk recorders, DVD players and audio systems. Make sure that what is possible, all devices that can be used, including present or future.

Large equipment can always buy a bit 'of a problem that no one knows if the technology is stable, or what is the time of 1080p HDTV is changingbest pleased with me, and installed is not bad to watch football at all.

The optimum TV screen size is directly related to the available viewing distance – but there are other factors as well that must be considered.

Viewing distance: Is it just a matter of personal taste?

Sit too close to the big screen TV and you will be able to see the image build-up structure – scanning lines or pixels forming the image – so distracting your attention and enjoy your home theater experience. But sitting too far awayand the effect is lost.

There are different opinions about the best way to determine the optimum TV viewing distance for a specific screen size. Just go to the movies and you will soon realize that everything is a matter of personal preference – some would sit at the back. Others would jump to the front row, as they prefer the larger screen and a larger perspective, while others would simply choose randomly located somewhere between these two extremes.

TheTruth is that there are no scientific rules her. This does not mean that there are no guidelines that you should follow when planning a purchase or a big screen would-be home theater room.

SMPTE Recommendations and the THX certification standards:

The Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE) recommends that the screen size for home theater use should occupy a 30 degree field of view – the horizontal plan – for the audience. Alternatively, the idealTV viewing distance should be such that the screen width takes an angle of 30 degrees to the straight position.

These have been 30-degree viewing angle seems to have adopted widely regarded as the standard in home theater and film.

The SMPTE directive is also in line with the THX certification that the standards recommend that the rear row of seats should have at least a 26 degree angle, and advocates, while an optimal viewing angle of 36Degree.

It is believed that within these limits is a better perspective of the viewer get lost in the action movie itself.

Vision System limitations:

It is also the question of TV viewing distance on visual acuity. This does not represent the optimum viewing distance – but it refers to go to the maximum viewing distance of a few details about the image is lost.

Technically, the visual acuity is a measure of the eye spatial resolving powerand shows the size of the angle to the smallest detail that a person can solve the visual system. A person with 20/20 (or 6 / 6 when expressed in meters can solve) normal vision of a spatial pattern from a perspective of one minute arc angle ie 1/60th degree of self to the eye when viewed at 20 feet away. In other words, a person with normal 20/20 Vision is capable of identifying an object with a height of 1.76mm at 20 feet is capable of.

In the television sector distances, thisrepresent the point at which some of the display window will no longer be resolved by the viewer vision system.

So how does all this translate into practice?

A few rules-of-thumb to help put into practice, the above-mentioned guidelines. These rules for viewing distance to screen width, not diagonally across the screen and therefore apply to both 4:3 and 16:9 display formats.

A general rule for TV viewing distance based on the SMPTE and visual acuityGuidelines is that the nearest TV viewing distance between you and your big screen TV should be about twice the screen width is limited (to be precise 1.87 x screen width for a circular circumferential angle of 30 degrees), while the furthest distance is no longer than five times the width of the screen.

This rule of thumb should give you a fairly good approximation for your TV viewing distance. It is not necessarily the perfect home theater viewing distance, but the limitswithin which your TV viewing distance should theoretically from the trouble zone.

In other words, more than twice the width of the size and the image scan lines, points and other video artifacts will be visible too intrusive – which spoil distractions that you will be movies. They continue to move away than 5 times the screen width and your vision system will no longer be able to resolve all the details of the image.

But …

It is alsoimportant to realize that these maximum and minimum viewing distances in the light of the video signal definition should be considered.

A fully resolved high-definition TV (1080i, 1920×1080) supports a closer viewing distance than standard analog TV. Thus, while twice the screen width would be the ideal TV away just for an HDTV display, it would be a little too close for standard TV, in the case, three times the screen width would be the better choice.

The five timesthe screen width than the maximum visibility, while more than adequate for a standard analog TV picture is a bit too far away for a support person to the smallest detail of an HDTV picture – a three to four times the screen width is a lake more practical limit for the maximum viewing distance in the case of HDTV.

These rules-of-thumb work best with large TV screen size in the range 42-inch or more.

If it is in the use of regular size standard definition analog TVshome theater, ie up to 36 "/ 40" diagonal, the optimum viewing distance is between 8 feet and 12 feet. TVs smaller than 36-inches are not big enough to have qualified for home theater use, its smaller screen size is not the desired effect on the viewer.

Vertical viewing angle and screen height:

For optimal viewing of the viewer's eyes should be level with the center of the screen.

Maximum vertical viewing angle: In the home theater –set-ups in case this is not possible to beat the SMPTE guidelines, the maximum vertical angle to the uppermost part of the projected image on the seated eye height from the front row center seat should be measured not more than 35 degrees.

This charge does not represent the optimum viewing angle, but the boundary that are subject to the viewer, an increased neck.

This maximum vertical angle limit is always measured from the front row, because these are the extreme angleview.

Minimum angle: Even if it does not appear to be a specific SMPTE or THX guidelines in this regard, but studies have shown that when the screen size takes less than 15 degrees vertical field of view, the viewer than the small picture is displayed.

Practical considerations:

In a typical home theater set-up, you do not need to make really about neither the maximum vertical angle cares, not even on the minimum requirements for a vertical angleEffective cinema experience.

If one of the recommended TV viewing distance of twice the screen width to keep (as set forth in detail the top of the SMPTE Directive of 30 degrees horizontal field of view), you would automatically meet the minimum angle. The reason is that there is a fixed relation between screen height and width to your home theater screen aspect ratio of either 16:9 or 4:3.

And even more: in a typical homeTheater setup, it would be very difficult, the maximum vertical angle from which you are subject to an increased neck strain cross.

Considering that most home theater rooms are approximately 10 feet (3m) is high, the resulting vertical viewing angles well within the normal limit of 35 degrees in the SMPTE guidelines detailed – everything you need to do is just within twice the screen width guideline for your eyes to stay apart.
